Iran says destabilization of Lebanon is unacceptable

TEHRAN, May 22 (MNA) -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini said here on Tuesday that Iran regards any action decreasing security in Lebanon as dangerous and unacceptable.

Hosseini expressed concern about the situation of civilians at the Nahr al-Bared Palestinian refugee camp and expressed hope that emergency assistance would be promptly provided to the people injured in the recent fighting.

Israel has a history of planning conspiracies and sowing the seeds of civil war, he observed.

Iran calls on all Lebanese groups to be vigilant about foreign plots, to halt the fighting, and to maintain the peace and security of the Lebanese people, he added.

The Nahr al-Bared refugee camp has been the scene of armed clashes between Lebanese Army soldiers and the Sunni group Fatah al-Islam since Sunday.
